Dolinoy, Peterson reappointed as department chairs at Michigan Public Health

Today, the University of Michigan Board of Regents approved the reappointments of two key leaders at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Karen E. Peterson will extend her tenure as chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, and Dana Dolinoy as chair for the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. Both chairs are set to serve additional three-year terms starting September 1, 2024.

Andy Jones, associate professor and associate chair of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, discovered his passion for public health while volunteering in the US Peace Corps in Kazakhstan. He is interested in understanding how food systems influence climate change and how food policy works in the United States.

Alumna delivers message to Class of 2024: ‘Everybody has the right to good health’

On May 2, 2024, the University of Michigan School of Public Health celebrated more than 400 graduates during commencement at the historic Hill Auditorium who received 286 master’s degrees, 100 undergraduate degrees and 28 doctoral degrees. Jodi-Ann Burey, MPH ’14, addressed the Class of 2024, thanking them for persevering during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Herman “Hank” Koren, MPH ’59, credits having an “immense career” thanks to the generosity of Henry F. Vaughan, the inaugural dean of the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Koren is returning the favor Vaughan paid to him by creating the Dr. Herman “Hank” and Mrs. Donna Koren Helping Hands Expendable Fund.
