Specimens
wanted:
Hericium or Grifola spp.:
Request from Ed Grand
"I was hoping that one of you might come across a Hericium or
Grifola while you are out in the next few weeks. If you do, could you
please take a spore print on aluminum foil and send it to me? I would
be very greatful and more than happy to send you back something from
Thailand. Anything else remotely edible would be nice too. I am trying
to 'domesticate' some new species. I just need the spores and a
tentative ID, so a normal letter envelope would be fine.
"I really miss going out with the club, especially in the Fall when
there is so much to see. Good luck with your collections this Fall. I
am very envious:(

Craterellus
spp.
It has
been so dry, and it is late now for Craterellus, but ....
Frances
Trail is looking for specimens of Craterellus sp. fruiting
bodies.
She and Chris Wright had a
collection that
many of you helped with.
Unfortunately, it met with disaster last spring, and was unwittingly
destroyed. We would
like to receive
pieces of any fruiting bodies
(no need to send your entire collection) along with the collection
location (as specific as possible so we can distinguish
strains).
Please mail them to: Frances
Trail, Department
of Plant Biology, Michigan
State University, East
Lansing, MI 48824. If you
want me to pay for the postage, I would be happy to, just email me at
trail@msu.edu or give me a call
(517-432-2939).
Thanks to everyone, Frances.
