People hunt mushrooms for various reasons:
▪to get outdoors
▪for recreation
▪for food,
▪for
photography,
▪to
revive or maintain ethnic traditions,
▪for
the
companionship of people with shared interests,
▪for the intellectual challenge
of learning about a separate living kingdom.
The Michigan
Mushroom Hunters' Club, based in southeast Michigan,
welcomes everyone interested in mushrooms, and has an active schedule
of events. The best way to learn about
collecting wild
mushrooms is to hunt with experienced collectors, and study mushroom
books.
MMHC is affiliated with the North American Mycological Association.
A discount in NAMA dues is available to MMHC members joining NAMA
through
the local club.
Membership in the MMHC includes the newsletter, Spores
Illustrated.
