Biostatistics 50/60 Anniversary Conference

The Department of Biostatistics 50/60 Conference held November 13 and 14, 2009 was a real success. This conference was organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the creation of the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan. Sixty years ago the Department of Public Health Statistics was formed. Ten years later it was renamed the Department of Biostatistics. Hence the name "50/60 Anniversary Conference"- as you know, statisticians can never provide a number without a margin of error!
Besides the current students and faculty, an impressive number of alumni and former faculty attended the two-day event to celebrate with talks from distinguished alumni, past and present faculty, poster sessions, informal get-togethers, and a gala conference dinner. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with the Department and old friends. See pictures of the venue.
