Xin Gao wins the 2010 Student Research Competition at the Statistics Section of American Public Health Association

Xin Gao was one of four winners of the 2010 Student Research Competition at the Statistics Section of APHA for her paper entitled "Assessing the Causal Effect of Treatment Dosages in the Presence of Self-Selection". Congratulations!

Moore Collegiate Professor of Biostatistics is among the researchers honored Tuesday, August 23, 2010 by Vice President Joe Biden for “transforming the American Economy through innovation” to accelerate significant advances in science and technology. Professor Roderick Little appointed to Census Bureau post

Professor Roderick Little will join the U.S. Census Bureau as the new associate director for statistical methodology and standards. Professor Little will lead a new directorate that will focus on enhancing the research and innovation capacity of the Census Bureau. See news release.

Professor Roderick Little elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Professor Roderick Little, Richard D. Remington Collegiate Professor of Biostatistics has been elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Founded in 1780, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences is an independent policy research center that conducts multidisciplinary studies of complex and emerging problems. The Academy’s elected members are leaders in the academic disciplines, the arts, business, and public affairs. The Academy has a current membership of 4,000 American Fellows and 600 Foreign Honorary Members. Congratulations for this well-deserved honor!

Jincao Wu and Jian Kang awarded Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship 2010-2011

Jincao Wu and Jian Kang both Ph.D. students supervised by Dr. Timothy Johnson have been awarded the Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship for 2010-2011. Fellowships are awarded to outstanding students who will complete the dissertation in the year in which they hold the fellowship. Congratulations!

Jincao Wu won an ENAR Distinguished Student Paper Award

Jincao Wu, a Ph.D. student advised by Dr. Timothy Johnson won an ENAR Distinguished Student Paper Award for her paper entitled "Predicting Treatment Efficacy via Quantitative MRI: A Bayesian Joint Model". The ENAR 2010 Spring Conference will be held in New Orleans from March 21 to 24. Congratulations!

Ying Ding won an ENAR Distinguished Student Paper Award

Ying Ding, who just graduated with a Ph.D. in Biostatistics and works now for Eli Lilly, won one of the ENAR Distinguished Student Paper Awards for her paper "Sieve Maximum Likelihood Estimation Using B-splines for the Accelerated Failure Time Model" based on part of her dissertation. The ENAR 2010 Spring Conference will be held in New Orleans from March 21 to 24. Congratulations!
