Services Offered

What are we all about? Come in and find out.

Advising:

  • Career Advising: Individual career advising is available, on an appointment basis, for those who need to discuss or need a little extra help with the job search, resume or cover letter writing. To make an appointment for one-to-one career advising contact Shelagh Saenz in Career Services at 763-3155.

Job, Fellowship & Internship Postings:

  • Career Connection: Students and alumni of the University of Michigan School of Public Health now link with PublicHealthJobs.net for identifying national job opportunities. In addition, we maintain the Career Connection for job, internship, and fellowship postings that target our students.

Career Resources:

  • Job Search Handbook & Other Career Resources: Many resource guides, examples, and career documents are available in the documents library of the Career Connection site.
  • Library Materials & Job Bank Books: Job Bank references give a variety of information about major U.S. cities. These directories provide addresses and corporate profiles which can aid you in researching career opportunities. Additionally, you will find tools, which assist in cover letter writing, resume writing, and interviewing techniques. Browse our expanded career collection to assist in landing your dream job.
  • Career Workshops: Job-search workshops and employer presentations/panels are held throughout each semester at SPH and at the University's Career Center (3200 Student Activities Bldg). Workshops topics include exploring the job search process, resume writing, how to target not-for-profit organizations, and networking. For details and scheduled times, check our calendar of events on the Career Services website.

Employer Visits:

  • Employer Forums and Recruiter Visits: Some recruiters who represent employers interested in SPH students and alumni visit the School to interview students for upcoming job openings and provide information on employment with their agency. Watch your email for upcoming opportunities.
  • Career Fair: The U-M Career Center's annual career fair allows students the chance to make contacts, talk with 'real world' public health professionals, and investigate opportunities for internships and permanent employment. Please check The Career Center's website and the SPH Career Connection for future upcoming events and information.
