The fight against cancer is well under way...
Cancer epidemiology is the science of understanding the causes of why people get cancer. Understanding cancer epidemiology involves the analysis of certain types of risk factors and exposures in our lives that can increase the risk of getting cancer, such as those associated with our environmental, occupational, and lifestyle factors.
Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations is a School of Public Health program that offers students the knowledge and field training to learn cancer epidemiology in various international and domestic settings. As part of the program, students participate in funded summer internships and attend required courses, seminars and tutorials. International internships have been conducted in Egypt, India, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Tanzania, Tunisia and Turkey. Domestic research internships particularly focus upon cancer epidemiology in the minority U.S. populations, such as African-American, Hispanic, Native American, and Arab American in Michigan and other states in the United States.
