Eligibility & Application

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a United States Citizen or have legal resident status.
  • Applicant must be located at one of the three training sites (Johns Hopkins, University of Michigan, or University of North Carolina) OR applicant must be willing to move to one of these training sites.
  • Applicant must have completed all formal requirements for professional and post-professional training (e.g. internships or residencies) at the doctoral level by the date of entry into the Program. Please note: The term "doctoral level" refers to the degree which is generally accepted as prerequisite to being considered for a faculty position at schools of public health (e.g. Ph.D., M.D., J.D., Dr.PH).
  • Applicant must be committed to a scholarly career as a faculty member in a health professional school, with emphasis on schools of public health.
  • Applicant must be highly regarded as a professional by those responsible for his/her education and training.

Other Considerations:

  • Applications are welcome from junior faculty as well as those recently completing doctoral level training so long as the above eligibility requirements are met.
  • Underrepresented groups, including ethnic minorities and women, are encouraged to apply.
  • Scholars may not hold other training fellowships or be enrolled full time in another degree program during their tenure in this Program.
