CBPH Caucus Sessions at the APHA annual meeting in Atlanta, GA
Our new caucus has organized many sessions, some academic, some social and of course, our annual early morning breakfast meeting. If you would like to see the schedule please visit the Caucus webpage.

Seminar presented by Michael Reece and Laura Gillis at Johns Hopkins
CHSP alumn Michael Reece (2000-2001 JHU) and Laura Gillis (Health Care for the Homeless) presented a seminar titled "Developing Community-Academic Research Partnerships: Insights from a Study to Improve Clinical Care for the Homeless." as part of the First Thursday Community Research Seminar Series at Johns Hopkins University. It was attended by faculty and graduate students from the School of Public Health and School of Medicine.

2. Publications

Scott Rhodes Paper Accepted
Scott Rhodes (2001-2002 UNC) had a paper entitled "Correlates of Hepatitis B vaccination in a high-risk population: An internet sample" (Rhodes SD, DiClemente RJ, Yee LJ, Hergenrather KC) accepted for publication in the American Journal of Medicine.

3. New Scholars

Suzanne Morissey
Suzanne Morrissey is a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at Syracuse University with a focus in medical anthropology. Her interests include maternal and child health, the social construction of breastfeeding, and single motherhood and paternity in the U.S. Her dissertation research focuses on barriers to access to public health programs among low-income urban women in the United States. More specifically, she examines strategies women use when enrolled in the WIC Program to make the Program suit their immediate needs. She has taught classes on anthropology, epidemiology, and the history of the U.S. healthcare system, and has done research in Costa Rica, Ireland, and Ecuador. Previously, she was a research associate in the Department of Community and Preventive Medicine at the University of Rochester.
