Vivian Chavez (Michigan '99-'00) to be Keynote Speaker
Community-Campus Partnerships for Health and the California State University
Chancellor's office are collaborating on a state-wide AmeriCorps program called
Service-Learning for Family Health (SLFH) which is intended to engage college
students in service-learning experiences that promote healthier communities.
Our oun Vivian Chavez will be the keynote speaker for the program scheduled
for August 17-19, 2001 in San Luis Obispo, CA. About 80 AmeriCorps members (mostly
Cal State students) and program staff from the first set of 4 participating
campuses will come together for a statewide training on service-learning and
building healthier communities. These campuses include San Francisco State,
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Northridge, and San Jose State.
