Associate That Wants a Career Integrating Research and Practice
The Association for the Study and Development of Community is looking for an Associate that wants a career integrating research and practice in order to promote community development and change, systems change, prevention & other social issues. Must possess strong research and communication skills (speaking and writing), some prior supervisory or management experience, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people, communities, and cultures. The successful candidate will have a combination of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills. Computer application skills (e.g. MS Office ,SPSS, etc) are needed. Applicants will be asked for writing samples because a substantial responsibility for this position will be writing reports and other publications. Masters degree or doctorate in social sciences or public health preferred. Minimum of two years of relevant research or evaluation experience required. Applied experience related to areas we work in will be a plus.
The Associate will be responsible for assisting Project Directors in technical tasks as well as task management.
Responsibilities will include:
* Primary data collection through various qualitative and quantitative methods, including: on site interviews, surveys, and archival data extraction;
* Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data using standard statistical techniques and qualitative methods;
* Preparation of reports and other publications for scientific, professional, policy, and public audiences;
* Presentations of results to clients, professional audiences, and community organizations;
* Project task management;
* Review and write critical summaries of research literature;
* Technical skills training and other consultation services;
* Proposals and new project development; and
* Other tasks that get to use the candidates skills for community capacity building The Association for the Study & Development of Community is an organization involved in research & capacity building initiatives locally & nationally to develop the health, economic equity, & social justice of communities.
