Course Web Sites

CTools

The University's course management system called CTools is ideally suited for creating course web sites. CTools is an enhanced version of the original UM.CourseTools, combined with UM.WorkTools, UM's research and project management system. Improvements in CTools include individual personal portals (called My Workspace), an interface that can be customized to a user's preferences, and much more.

Sitemaker

If you need more than CTools can provide, you can use UM.SiteMaker to set up and maintain additional web sites. More information on UM.SiteMaker can be found on our SiteMaker Support pages.

IT Central Services

ITCS provides an option for instructors who would simply like an allocation of online file space to develop their own course web pages. This space is provided via AFS, and is commonly located at /afs/umich.edu/class/coursename/. To request AFS course space, simply fill out the form listed on the ITCS page and submit it to the ITCS Accounts Office.
