Database-Driven Web Sites

SPH Web Services develops database-driven web sites that benefit the School of Public Health. Requests for database-driven web sites can be sent using our online form.authentication required The following database-driven web sites are currently deployed on the School of Public Health website:

  • Classroom Services & Room Scheduling Unit > Available Classrooms
    SPH Classrooms and conference rooms that can be scheduled for use. This includes a classroom reservation request form that queries the database to determine the appropriate person to route the request to.
  • Community-Based Public Health Partner Organizations Database authentication is required
  • Course Approval Intranet Database (intranet authentication is required)
    A system by which faculty (and their proxies) can propose new courses, modifications to existing courses and course deletions. Proposals are viewed and approved by departmental Curriculum Chairs, the school's ACAP committee, and Rackham. The SPH Registrar makes approved proposals live in the current courses database, which is displayed on the public web site. CAID includes six distinct interfaces:

    3. Student Service Coordinators
    4. Curriculum Chairs
    5. Departmental Updaters
    6. SPH Registrar
  • Computing Services > Announcements & Outages
    Computing Services announcements and outages, including automatic messaging to all SPH faculty, staff and students.
  • Experts List
    A searchable list of public health topics used by the media to find out who to contact for expertise.
  • Faculty and Staff Directory
    A searchable list of all SPH faculty and staff including office addresses, phone numbers and links to faculty profiles.
  • Faculty in the News (intranet authentication is required)
    Selected citations of news stories organized by academic department, compiled by the SPH Office of Communications.
  • Faculty Merit Review Online (intranet authentication is required)
    A system by which faculty (and their proxies) can enter data on their accomplishments over the past year (teaching, service and research). Data is reviewed by Department Administrators, Department Chairs, the SPH Business Administrator and the SPH Dean for Administration. PDF summary reports are dynamically generated from the database. Faculty Merit Review includes six distinct interfaces:

    5. Business Administrator

  • Faculty Profiles
    Each SPH faculty member has a database-driven profile page. These are updated by departmental Web Content Managers, faculty and their proxies.
  • Findings Magazine Online > Searchable Archives
    Search archived issues of Findings (post-2003) by keyword or person's name.
  • Frequently Used Forms (intranet authentication is required)
    Links to frequently used forms are provided for the benefit of SPH faculty and staff.
  • HMP Alumni Directory authentication is required
    This site, accessible to SPH faculty & staff and HMP alumni & students, provides an online directory of HMP alumni and a place where HMP alumni can update their information.
  • News & Events > Calendar of Events
    Upcoming events at SPH.
  • Online Course Listings
    Courses are listed by department, term and faculty member, and are searchable.
  • Rich Media Library authentication is required
    Video modules from recorded lectures can be located by faculty member, courseID, course name, topic and keyword or phrase.
