There are many freely available options for setting up a personal web site at the University of Michigan:

Faculty Profiles

If you are an SPH Faculty member, you have your own faculty profile on the SPH web site. You can maintain your own faculty profile via the SPH Intranet .

IT Central Services

All UM staff, faculty and students have web space available to them free of charge through UM's Information Technology Central Services (ITCS). Information on creating a web site in this space is available on ITCS's Creating your personal Home Page on the U of M web servers page.

We recommend that you use Adobe Dreamweaver to develop and maintain your ITCS-hosted web site. We provide Dreamweaver training throughout the year.

UM SiteMaker

An easier way to set up a personal web site at UM is to use UM.SiteMaker, which requires no knowledge of HTML, nor the use of web editing software like Dreamweaver. Drupal CMS

ITCS offers websites that use the Drupal CMS via their Web Application Sign-Up Service. Drupal which allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website.

Blogs

If you would like your own personal web log, we recommend mBlog, a blogging service available to current students, faculty, and staff at the University of Michigan. Brought to you by the University Library in partnership with ITCS and the Bentley Historical Library, mBlog utilizes the Moveable Type platform.

Your Domain Name

If you would like to register a domain and have it pointed to your web site, SPH Web Services would be delighted to set that up for you. The cost of registering a domain is $12 a year. Please contact us for more information.
