SPH Subdomain options for SPH-affiliated Group Web Sites

This page outlines policies for SPH-affiliated groups wishing to have an UM SPH subdomain such as mygroup.sph.umich.edu.

SPH-Hosted Sites

If the group’s website is hosted by UM SPH (e.g., the URL of their website contains sph.umich.edu), ICS will create an SPH subdomain for them upon approval by SPH Administration. Contact Web Services to make such a request.

ITCS-Hosted Sites

If the group’s website is hosted by ITCS (e.g., the URL of their website contains umich.edu but not sph.umich.edu), the group must ask ITCS to create a subdomain for them. More information on this is available on the UM Web Services page under Virtual Sites

SiteMaker Sites

If the group’s website is a UM SiteMaker site, (e.g., the URL of their website contains sitemaker.umich.edu), the group must ask SiteMaker to create a subdomain for them.

Externally-Hosted Sites

If the group uses an external web host to host their site (e.g., the URL of their site does not contain umich.edu), its request for a UM SPH subdomain will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis; technical and other considerations may prevent us from creating a subdomain.
