Interests:
Ms. Slayden’s research interests center on mental health at the community level and its intersection with substance use/abuse. She is particularly interested in posttraumatic stress disorder prevention and treatment, and recently, resistance and resilience. Ms. Slayden's research experience includes statewide substance use prevalence studies; evaluation of prison substance use/abuse treatment programs; HIV/AIDS risk reduction interventions; and interventions related to co-morbidity of alcohol and depression.

Projects:
She is currently coordinating multiple projects with Dr. Galea including mental health outcomes related to disasters (National Center for Disaster Mental Health Research), mental health outcomes in the military and the association between ecological stressors and mental health and substance use/abuse in the Detroit Neighborhood Health Study.
