CASP - Collaborative Association Study of Psoriasis

PARTICIPATING GROUPSPI
University of Michigan Psoriasis Genetics Group James T. Elder
University of Utah Psoriasis Initiative Gerald G. Krueger
Washington University in St. Louis Human Genetics Anne Bowcock

The goal of this collaborative study is to combine the resources and expertise of three groups with long-standing studies of psoriasis genetics to identify new genetic susceptibility factors for psoriasis, a common inflammatory skin disease that affects over 4 million Americans.

We are carrying out a large genetic association study with a total of 1449 cases and 1449 controls to be examined in the first phase. DNA for each of the participants will be characterized in detail for ~500,000 genetic variants. This will allow us to identify psoriasis susceptibility alleles in previously unexplored regions of the genome.
