Technical Requirements

Recommended system requirements for access to the CFPH program are as follows.

Computer Skills Students must be able to perform basic computer operations and Internet functions, watch online videos, use DVD or CD-Rom discs, printer, and create and upload multipage pdfs. See below for more details.

Computer Operation:

  1. Create folders/directories
  2. Find, copy, move, rename and delete files
  3. Run and switch between multiple programs
  4. Backup and restore files
  5. Download and install programs
  6. Attach and operate USB headset (Raise-lower microphone-earphone volume / mute-unmute, etc.)
  7. Attach computer to high speed internet connection using Ethernet cable

Use a word processing program (e.g. MS Word, Open Office Writer) to:

  1. Create, format, edit, spell check, save, print and retrieve a document
  2. Cut, copy and paste information within and between documents
  3. Save a word processing document

Use presentation software (e.g. MS Powerpoint, Open Office Impress)

  2. Cut, copy and paste information within and between presentations
  3. Save and display presentation

Internet:

Use a Web browser to:

  1. Access the Internet via broadband (DSL, cable or a network interface)
  2. Locate a specific website (typing URL in the address bar)
  3. Follow a hyperlink
  4. Open, print and/or save Web pages to a local disk drive
  5. Download, save, and upload files
  6. Create, maintain and manage a list of Web pages (Favorites/Bookmarks)
  7. Use a search engine's basic features to find information on the Web

Use an E-mail program to:

  1. Send, receive, store and retrieve messages
  2. Send, receive and open file attachments
