The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is responsible for the specialized accreditation of educational programs in engineering, engineering technology and engineering-related fields.

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) is a not-for-profit corporation organized to improve the practice and educational standards of the profession of industrial hygiene.

The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, Inc. (ACGIH) is a community of professionals whose goal is to advance worker health and safety through education and the development and dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge.

The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) is an organization of more than 11,500 professional members dedicated to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental factors arising in or from the workplace that may result in injury, illness, impairment, or affect the well-being of workers and members of the community.

The British Occupational Health Society (BOHS) is a multidisciplinary learned society which was founded in 1952 and now has members in over 30 countries. The aim of the Society is to promote the science of occupational hygiene by raising awareness of the value of the specialty through education, information exchange, research and professional networking.

National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) had its origins in the state of California where it was incorporated in 1937. NEHA offers a variety of programs that are all in keeping with the association's mission which is as relevant today as it was when the organization was founded. The mission of the National Environmental Health Association is to advance the environmental health and protection professional for the purpose of providing a healthful environment for all.

The Center for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering (UM-COHSE), also the site of the University of Michigan's NIOSH Education and Research Center (ERC). The Center offers a wide variety of continuing education and professional development courses for practitioners in industrial health and safety. They are held at various locations, both on- and off-campus.

The American Society for Safety Engineers (ASSE) is a global association providing the professional development and representation for those engaged in the practice of safety, health and the environment and providing services to the private and public sectors to protect people, property and the environment. The vision of ASSE is to be the premier organization and resource for those engaged in the practice of protecting people, property and the environment, and to lead the profession globally.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is the federal agency responsible for researching and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related disease and injury. The Institute is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The International Occupational Health Association (IOHA) conducts a wide range of activities intended to promote and develop occupational hygiene worldwide. From its creation in 1987 the IOHA has grown to more than twenty member organizations, representing over 20,000 occupational hygienists worldwide.

The Michigan Environmental Health Association (MEHA) provides members and environmental health professionals with means to access information relating to environmental issues.

The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization that provides training, information, and networking opportunities to 12,000 environmental professionals in 65 countries.

The University of Michigan Industrial Hygiene Student Association (UMIHSA) is a student-run organization dedicated to improving and promoting the practice of industrial hygiene. Its members are affiliated with the Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene programs within the Environmental Sciences Department of the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
