Sensational headlines abound regarding public health issues resulting from human exposure to health. Finding the balance between risk/exposure and benefit/harm requires analysis and information not easily conveyed within the 10-second soundbite afforded in the day's news. Yet, the public and policymakers must make decisions about what presents a hazard and what should be regulated.

These issues are the focus of the risk science program at the Univesrity of Michigan. Through this program, graduates will benefit from:

  • training that is highly relevant to practical and essential societal decisions,
  • outstanding interdisciplinary expertise of the EHS faculties and of the University of Michigan Risk Science Center in all facets of risk,
  • opportunities to work with the latest methods, measurements techniques, and modeling skills used in risk science.
