Student Mentor Program

Are you an incoming student who would love to have a current/senior student in the Deparment to talk to? Consider participating in the Student Mentor Program. The Epidemiology Department's Student Mentor Program is designed to help new students acclimate to the Department, School, University and the City of Ann Arbor. New students rely on their Student Mentors for information on anything from Professors or classes to popular pizza spots or a good haircut place.

In mid to late September, all incoming students enrolled in the Mentor Program will be matched with 2-3 senior students. Matching is based on degree level (MPH vs. PhD) and interests (research and extracurricular interests considered). The new student is given contact information for each of their mentors. Also, there will be a meet and greet gathering for all mentees and mentors in early October. Details about the pizza gathering will be distributed to all students formally enrolled in the program.

If you would like to be matched with a Student Mentor, please fill out the Student Mentor Enrollment Form.

If you would like to volunteer to be a Student Mentor (available only to second year and higher students) please fill out the Student Mentor Volunteer Form.

If you have any questions regarding the Student Mentor Program, please contact Michelle Obuhanich at michiob@umich.edu
