Applicant ReviewApplication Supplements to the PHGIC are reviewed ONLY AFTER the applicant has been accepted to a departmental graduate degree program. If a departmental application has been denied or waitlisted, the PHGIC Application Supplement will not be reviewed. After a student is accepted to a departmental graduate degree program at the School of Public Health, the PHGIC Application Supplement is reviewed for admission to the PHGIC by PHGIC faculty. Acceptance, waitlist, or denial to the PHGIC does not affect acceptance to a student's departmental graduate degree program in any way. AlternativesFifteen to twenty students are chosen each year. Students not selected for the PHGIC are invited to pursue the many other avenues for learning about public health genetics while pursuing their graduate degree. With the numerous centers and resources located at the University of Michigan, the possibilities for students, faculty, and community members to learn about and get involved are numerous and growing. The School of Public Health offers the following avenues for pursuing education and research in rpublic health genetics:
