Curriculum Coursework

Presented here are overviews on two new courses developed through this project (Introduction to Genetics in Public Health and Issues in Public Health Genetics) and a third course that already existed in the School of Public Health (Genetics in Epidemiology). These three courses constitute the core curriculum of an interdepartmental concentration in genetics that is the curriculum model initiated and piloted at the University of Michigan School of Public Health from 1996 to 1998. Each course is one semester in duration and meets for three hours per week. The courses are sequenced so that Introduction to Genetics in Public Health is taken first, unless a student is exempted from this course, followed by Genetics in Epidemiology, and concluding with Issues in Public Health Genetics.

Introduction to Public Health Genetics (core course 1)
Genetics in Epidemiology (core course 2)
Issues in Public Health Genetics (core course 3)
