Elective
Courses
Elective courses for students in the University of Michigan
Public Health Genetics Concentration are varied, yet
provide an emphasis on human genetics. Many of the electives
come from existing courses in the School of Public Health,
but students also select electives in the basic science
departments, medical school, or arrange independent
study projects for credit with appropriate faculty throughout
the university. Examples of available electives included
the following courses.
- Biostatistics: Statistical Models and Numerical
Methods in Human Genetics; Advanced Topics in Genetic
Modeling
- Environmental Health Sciences: Genes and
the Environment
- Epidemiology: Molecular Epidemiology; Cancer
Epidemiology
- Health Behavior & Health Education: Ethical
Considerations for Health Professionals
- Human Genetics: Gene Structure and Regulation;
Molecular, Cellular and Population Genetics Biology
