Ann Arbor Community Reads
Ann Arbor Reads encourages all of Ann Arbor to read one book at the same time and discuss it in small groups. The first book was Abraham Lincoln's DNA, and Other Adventures in Genetics by Philip R. Reilly, published in 2000. The program is modeled after similar programs in over 100 cities across the country but is unique in focusing on contemporary ethical issues.

Communities of Color and Genetics Policy Project
A project designed to provide policy recommendations based on public perceptions and responses to the explosion of genetic information and technology. It also tests the process of community dialogue as an effective means to engage citizens in thoughtful and productive discussions about policy needs regarding genetic information and technology and other value-laden issues.

GenEthics, Howard University National Genome Center
Incorporates the unique as well as the shared experiences of African Americans, other African Diaspora populations, and other people of color into human genome research, with the hope of minimizing potential harm and maximizing their capacity to partake of the expected benefits of improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
