Community Advisory Board

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is an essential component of the project.

The board consists of one member and one alternate from each partner community organization. Each organization designates its member and alternate based on his or her involvement in the project on the local level and ability to represent the people who will be participants in focus groups, dialogue sessions, and policy meetings. Members and alternates understand the culture, needs and strengths of the participants.

The CAB helps to ensure that the entire project is implemented in a manner which will reflect the perspectives and characteristics of its community participants. Specific tasks include: review of all educational materials to be used with community members, analysis of focus group results, counsel on dialogue session design and implementation, and assisting the project team in the planning of policy meetings. Members meet four to six times each year to monitor the project’s progress and advise the project team. In addition, members are consulted individually.
