Experiential Learning

Experiential Learning Project Descriptions:

The GLC was quite pleased to sponsor five experiential learning projects during the Winter 2012 term. The course was led by HMP faculty member David Mendez. HMP Residential Masters students had the opportunity to work on process improvement projects at three greater Ann Arbor health care providers: Trinity-Health, Detroit Medical Center (DMC), and the University of Michigan Health System (UMHS). During the projects, students directly applied knowledge gained in the classroom setting to practice. Please see the five project titles below for a better sense of project activities:

  • Emergency Department (ED) Throughput
  • Simulation of Children's and Women's Operating Room (OR) Case Picking
  • Emergency Department (ED) Simulation
  • Volume Monitoring and Forecasting Methods
  • Relationship of Emergency Room (ER) Patients "Wait Times" and "Left Without Being Seen" Status
