It's been another great year at the Health Behavior Health Education Student Association (HBHESA) and we are proud to congratulate the board members and students who graduated this year! HBHESA 2nd year co-chairs Heather Lanthorn and Julia Schlueter and the other board members have passed the torch to a new and equally energetic HBHESA board: Co-Chairs: Rachel Lieberman and Melissa Cox Some highlights from this year in HBHESA included successful social events such as a weekly happy hours, bowling night and an end-of-year HBHE potluck. We took a bit of time out to review and update our organizational constitution to include the new, official board member positions of Alumni Relations and Historian. We were happy to welcome alumni from the CDC to talk about their career paths, opportunities for work at the CDC. Dr. Scott Roberts and Dr. Cleo Caldwell joined us at two separate HBHESA meetings to share their unique paths into public health and talk about their current research and interests. And, our curriculum chairs Emily Courey and Monica Lyle (along with others) were a driving force in establishing the mini-seminars on skills-based topics such as presentation skills, budgeting and data analysis. We are looking forward to next fall and making more connections with alumni. We would love to hear your suggestions about how YOU would like to connect with current students. Email us at hbhesaboard@umich.edu. Have a great summer! 2007-2008 HBHESA Board |
