Individualized Dual Masters Degrees
At the University of Michigan, it is possible for students to pursue dual graduate degrees even when there is no formal joint degree program in place. A student interested in an individualized dual degree program should first meet with his/her advisor in HMP and an advisor from the second degree program to discuss the potential for a dual degree and the required number of courses and credits. Once the details have been agreed upon, the student must petition the HMP Residential Masters Committee for permission to pursue the individualized dual degree. Admission to the second program and approval from the Residential Masters Committee allows for a reduced course load (45 credits) for the HMP degree. |
