About Our Degree Programs

The Department of Health Management and Policy prepares motivated and qualified men and women for high-level careers the span the entire field of health of management and policy.  Graduates are prepared to be leaders in organizations that deliver health care and public health services.  Our integrated and multidisciplinary curriculum provides students with the deep knowledge base and core competencies needed manage and lead health service programs, organizations and institutions within their policy contexts.  Our degree programs provide:

• the management and policy skills necessary for leaders in the field
• the knowledge to apply those skills effectively
• the development of values essential for addressing the unique problems and  humanistic goals of health care and public health

The Department offers three degree programs, which can be done individually or in conjunction with another department for a dual master's degree. The programs are:

• Master of Public Health (MPH) - Graduates of this degree tend to specialize/work in public and private health agencies, with the goal of improving the public's health.
• Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) - Graduates of this degree tend to specialize/work in management, financing, and organization of personal health services and health care finance.
• Master of Science in Health Services Research (MS) - Graduates conduct research concerning current and future health services and policy issues in a variety of public and private settings.
