Professional Summary
Christy Harris Lemak's teaching and research focus on the management, leadership and strategies of organizations serving vulnerable populations, including safety net clinics, urban hospitals, Medicaid health plans, and community-based collaboratives.
Before coming to the University of Michigan, Dr. Lemak was MHA Program Director in the University of Florida Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy. She also previously worked in health care strategic planning and marketing. At the University of Florida, Christy received Department and College teaching awards and the 2005 College of Public Health and Health Professions Faculty Leadership Award. Christy currently serves as Chair of the Academy of Management Health Care Management Division.

Research Interest & Projects
In recent years, her research has examined Medicaid providers and health plans, community-based collaboratives, and substance abuse treatment providers. She is currently part of a team conducting an independent evaluation of Florida's Medicaid Reform Initiative and has studied other Medicaid demonstrations, including a minority physician network and a provider service network. She is studying how Medicaid managed care activities facilitate health care provided by primary care physicians in Florida.
