Research Interest & Projects
In the Summer, 2007, I organized a study on the ecological and socioeconomic determinants of health in Mwanza, Tanzania with a focus on diarrhea and intestinal worms. Five graduate students from SNRE and public health students traveled to the region to conduct household interviews. I recently completed a book which critically evaluates the economic theory and policy outcomes of World Bank policies on developing countries. The volume includes chapter length treatments of health policy, finance and state formation. Drawing on institutional economic theory, the book also proposes an alternative set of development policies. I have recently completed papers on export processing zones in Africa, the World Bank and institutional development, and industrial policy for Africa for conferences in Europe and West Africa.
