EventHealthy Food in Health CareJune 30-July 1, 2009 More Information: http://www.foodmed.org/home.html The conference is for people working in the fields of nutrition, dietetics, health care administration and others who are interested in the link between food production, nutrition, health and health care. There are Continuing Education Units (CEU) available for Dietitians and Food Protection Professionals who attend. FoodMed, the third conference on healthy food in health care, will be in Detroit this year and registration is now open. The conference will be at the MGM Grand Hotel in Detroit on June 30 - July 1, 2009. Scholarships are available. Keynote speakers include noted scientist Tyrone Hayes, PhD, and Preston Maring, MD, who started the first farmers market at a hospital. Breakout sessions include: Obesity and the Food System, Protecting Antibiotics through Sustainable Food Procurement, Sustainable Meat Production and Nutrition, Food Waste Management and Bioplastics Serviceware, Implementing Farmers Markets and Onsite Gardens, Understanding Food Certification Ecolabels--Organic, Food Alliance and Other, Food Miles, Seasonal Menu Planning, and Local Procurement, Case Studies from Michigan Hospitals and Schools Posters are still being accepted.
