The University of Michigan and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), encourage members of the Southeast Michigan community to attend a forum about air pollution, to learn about research being conducted in the Detroit area. The public also is invited to voice concerns to government officials about issues related to air pollution.

The director of NIEHS, Dr. Linda Birnbaum, is a featured speaker at the event.

Detroit/SE Michigan is a densely populated area with a large number of major air pollution sources. To address health concerns related to air pollution, the University of Michigan is engaged in several research projects, including the Environmental Health Science Lifestage Exposure and Adult Disease Center, which is funded by NIEHS.

This community forum will include activities for children, Spanish/Arabic/American Sign Language translation, raffle prizes and light refreshments.
