Participant Responsibilities

As a participant, you have the opportunity to directly contribute to research that has the potential to guide national policy on pandemic preparedness.

As described in the informed consent document that you completed upon enrollment, each participant is responsible for complying with the following expectations, according to the intervention group to which they are assigned. Click here for Control Group participant responsibilities, here for Face Mask Only participant responsibilities, and here for Face Mask and Hand Hygiene participant responsibilities.

All participants are asked to provide specimens for virus identification if they become ill during the course of the study. If you're not feeling well and think you may have influenza, we invite you to provide throat and nasal specimens for virus identification at selected locations on north and central campus. You are eligible for specimen collection if you have illness with cough and at least one of the following symptoms: fever/feverishness, chills, or body aches. We will provide $25 per visit with specimen collection.
