The Office of Applied Studies (OAS) provides data from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA). National data is provided on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse, drug related emergencies, and drug treatment programs. This site contains an enormous amount of information that is most easily accessed through the topic database.
Included at this site are:
- National Survey on Drug Use & Health: Included topics are illicit drug use, alcohol use, tobacco use, trends in initiation of substance use, youth prevention-related measures, substance dependence, abuse, and treatment, and prevalence and treatment of mental health problems. Also available are tables of sub state data by age group and sub state region. Detailed tables are also available by state.
- Drug and Alcohol Services Information Administration (DASIS): DASIS provides data on substance abuse treatment programs. Data is presented on both the national and state level. Data includes – admissions, substance abused, and the demographic of the abuser. Data is also included on drug treatment facilities.
