Search by Agency
When looking for health statistics, first think if there is an agency or organization which might collect such information and go to their web site. For instance, if you are looking for lung cancer statistics, you may think of the National Cancer Institute as an organization that might provide this information. Go to their web site, www.cancer.gov, and look around to see what you can find. On this site, you would see a link near the top of the page called “Cancer Statistics”, which would lead you to an area designed to help you locate and understand the desired statistics. This approach is useful because even if the site you look at does not have the information you need, it may point you to other resources that you can try.
