Evaluate Your Results
Once you have articles of interest to you, you should spend a few moments evaluating them for the following:
- Author Qualifications: What are the qualifications of the author? Do they have an appropriate background for the topic area?
- Peer Review: Is the article from a peer reviewed journal? What are the editorial policies of the publication?
- Study Design: If the article is presenting research results, is the study design appropriate and sufficiently rigorous? Does the data support the conclusion?
- Bias: Does the perspective offered by the article have a particular bias? Does the information present alternative points of view or interpretations?
- Contradictory Articles: Are there other articles available which offer opposing facts or different information?
