Chart Formatting — Colors and Shading

Use of colors and textures

Be aware that the display of colors and textures on a computer monitor may appear different when printed or displayed as part of a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

A chart has many components—plot area (background), gridlines, data series, x and y axis, chart title, chart legend, and even the general chart area (area around the chart).  Right click on any of these components for the format option.

The default option for formatting is the “patterns.”  The patterns tab gives options for changing the color or for adding shading of the selected chart component. Click on the Fill Effects… button below the colors for full shading options.
