This symposium will discuss global public health preparedness in its broadest context; from preparing for catastrophic health events to addressing global health issues including multi-drug resistant tuberculosis to developing the public health workforce in the international community.

Continuing Education Credit
Continuing education credits are available at no charge. Certificates of attendance will be available for both on-site and live webcast events.
Physicians: Credit is only available to physicians with a Michigan license. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Michigan State Medical Society Committee on CME Accreditation through the joint sponsorship of the Public Health Consortium and the Office of Public Health Practice. The Public Health Consortium is accredited by the Michigan State Medical Society Committee on CME Accreditation to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Public Health Consortium designates this activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category I credits (TM). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses: 5.5 contact hours are provided by the Office of Public Health Practice at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Please note: Partial credit is available. The Office of Public Health Practice at the University of Michigan School of Public Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Michigan Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Certified Health Education Specialists: 5.5 CHES credits are provided by the Michigan Public Health Training Center which is approved as a provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC). Please note: You must be present for the entire symposium or watch the entire webcast to receive credit.

A complimentary lunch will be served on Ingalls Mall to pre-registrants (must have registered by September 6).
Parking
Near the Power Center, visitor parking is limited to the Palmer Structure. The Palmer structure entrance is on Palmer Drive, just off of Washtenaw Avenue. City parking structures off Maynard Street and Forest Street also offer public parking and at a lower hourly rate, but both require a up to a half-mile walk to get to the Power Center.

The symposium will be available via live webcast. Registration is required and you may participate for one or more presentations.
This live webcast uses Mediasite technology to deliver streaming video, audio and visual aids (slides) synchronized as the presenter speaks. Mediasite viewer system requirements include a computer with high speed connection (DSL or higher), speakers or headphones, Windows Media Player, and Microsoft Internet Explorer (for technical specifications, see http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/FileServe.aspx?market=143 (PDF]). Optional: connect your computer video output to a projector so that the presentation can be viewed by a large group.
