UM SPH reaccreditation process invites comments from constituents.

June 29, 2004 letter from the University of Michigan School of Public Health CEPH Accreditation Committee.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Periodically, the University of Michigan School of Public Health applies to be reaccredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), to ensure that we are meeting education standards for schools of public health. We are currently in the midst of the self study required for reaccreditation. The draft of our self study document has been submitted to the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The site visit by the CEPH accreditation team is scheduled for the third week in October (October 26-28, 2004).

The Accreditation Procedures Manual for CEPH states:

"Approximately three months before the scheduled site visit, the school or program should notify its major constituents that an accreditation review is scheduled and should indicate to them that written third-party comments will be received by CEPH until 30 days before the scheduled site visit. The form of such notice is at the discretion of the school or program but it should be described in the self study document and verifiable by the on-site evaluation team. Such notice should include the name and mailing address of CEPH.”

You are invited to submit written comments about the performance of the University of Michigan School of Public Health as an educational institution to CEPH until September 24. This date is the last Friday that corresponds to 30 days prior to the scheduled site visit. Comments should be submitted to

Ms. Louisa T. Reynolds
Accreditation Specialist
Council on Education for Public Health

Please DO NOT attempt to send comments by e-mail. Only written comments sent to the accreditation specialist will be accepted.
