UM SPH Alumni Society Board of Governors presents awards for 2006.

 The UM SPH Alumni Society Board of Governors has given the 2006 John H. Romani Award to Molla Sloane Donaldson, M.S., Dr.P.H. ’00, in recognition of her outstanding leadership in public health administration and policy and commitment to the ideals of public health. A director of the Quality Division at the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Donaldson is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She is a former senior scientist for quality care research and policy at the National Cancer Institute. Donaldson has demonstrated senior-level health care quality leadership in quality of care measurement, clinical guidelines, and evidence-based interventions to improve quality, and is the author and/or editor of over 45 books and peer-reviewed publications.
Bailus Walker, M.P.H. ’59, Ph.D., received the 2006 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Michigan School of Public Health Alumni Society Board of Governors. The award honors alumni who have contributed outstanding service to the field of public health and to SPH. A professor of environmental and occupational medicine and toxicology at the Howard University College of Medicine, Walker is a past president of the American Public Health Association and a distinguished fellow of the American College of Epidemiology. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences and is senior science advisor (environmental health) to the National Library of Medicine. Walker currently serves as advisory panel chair for a state planning grant with the District of Columbia Department of Health.
