In keeping with the Population Fellows Programs' mission, internships must take place in a developing or less-developed country. A full list of eligible countries is included in the FAQs. This list can be affected by changes in the global political situation. For instance, if a State Department Travel Advisory or Warning has been issued for any eligible country during the duration of the internship, additional conditions may be placed on the funding (such as registering with the U.S. Embassy upon arrival). Or, if the Fellows Programs deem the situation in a particular country too unsafe, funding may be denied for that reason alone.
