If you are committed to a more diverse pool of future professionals and can provide a supportive learning environment for an undergraduate eager to explore the field, we encourage you to consider hosting an MSI summer intern at your organization.

The first step is to submit an MSI Intern Request Form, which provides basic information about your organization, the proposed scope of work, the skills you are looking for, and the proposed supervisor. The deadline for completed request forms is March 15. Please note that scopes of work must focus primarily on family planning/reproductive health. You may click here to see a sample scope of work.

If your request fits our program objectives, we will notify you promptly. We select interns in mid-March and begin matching them to appropriate scopes of work in early April. Matches are made on the basis of host agency needs and the skills and interests of candidates. Once we have made a match, we will forward your intern's resume to the proposed supervisor so that he or she can conduct a telephone interview with the candidate. Very rarely, the host agency may determine that a particular candidate is not appropriate for the placement, and we will make adjustments if a more appropriate candidate is available. Once placements have been finalized, interns are encouraged to correspond with their host agency supervisor via e-mail about the workplace, the assignment, and the region in which the work will take place.
