Other USAID Fellowships and Related Programs

Population Leadership Program

This program is appropriate for candidates too senior for our fellowships. Placements are with USAID only. Visit PLP's Web site if you are a mid- to senior-level family planning/reproductive health professional with more than five years' work experience since your most recent graduate degree.

Johns Hopkins Health and Child Survival Fellows Program

This program reaches early- to mid-career U.S. professionals with fellowship opportunities in the health and child survival arena.

TAACS Positions

CEDPA provides Technical Advisors in AIDS and Child Survival (TAACS) to USAID offices overseas and in Washington, D.C. Open positions are listed on the Web site, and users can sign up to receive TAACS job postings by e-mail. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a security clearance.

USAID PHN User's Guide

This downloadable guide to the USAID/Washington Population, Health and Nutrition (PHN) Office provides the following:

  • descriptions and key points of contact for projects supported by the PHN Office;
  • structure and functions of the Bureau for Global Health (GH);
  • list of USAID/W PHN staff with their main function and contact information;
  • mailing addresses for PHN missions;

INFO Project

The Information and Knowledge for Optimal Health Project (the INFO Project) - previously PIP - is based at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health's Center for Communication Programs. It offers a family of products and services, such as:

  • POPLINE, the world's largest bibliographic database of family planning and related health and development issues.
  • Population Reports, a quarterly journal that provides overviews of important developments in family planning and related health issues.

The Development Gateway

This Web site contains a Population and Reproductive Health (POP/RH) Portal, which is managed by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). This portal is envisioned as a community-built database of shared population information, including data, publications, research, projects, ideas and dialogue. The POP/RH Portal defines the fields of population and reproductive health broadly and includes resources about the topics and actions identified in both the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) convened in Cairo in 1994 and the Key Actions for the Further Implementation of the Programme of Action agreed at the Twenty-first Special Session of the General Assembly for an Overall Review and Appraisal of the Implementation of the Programme of Action, 1999.

 

DOLPHN

The Data Online for Population, Health and Nutrition (DOLPHN) system is an online statistical data resource containing selected current and historical country-level demographic and health indicator data. The DOLPHN system is designed to provide users with access to frequently used statistics and can be helpful as both a reference and analytical tool. It is maintained by the Population, Health and Nutrition Information (PHNI) Project.

 

Population and Health InfoShare

Population and Health InfoShare, a Population Reference Bureau initiative, is an electronic library of material submitted by partner organizations working in less-developed countries. PH InfoShare features documents in reproductive and child health, HIV/AIDS, and population, including:

  • access to key research findings;
  • analysis by leading thinkers;
  • e-mail document delivery;
  • e-mail updates by topic and region.

 

PopNet

Also from the Population Reference Bureau, PopNet is a directory of population-related Web sites from governments, international organizations, NGOs, university centers, and associations. Users can search by organization, by region and country, or by topic within countries.

 

Population Index

This Web site, which is maintained by Princeton University, Office of Population Research, provides a searchable and browsable database containing more than 45,000 abstracts of demographic literature published in Population Index.

 

PERN

The Population-Environment Research Network (PERN) is a project of The International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), and the International Human Dimensions Programme (IHDP) on Global Environmental Change. It seeks to advance academic research on population and the environment by promoting on-line scientific exchange among researchers from social and natural science disciplines worldwide. It includes links to jobs and funding opportunities; relevant conferences; related Web sites; and an e-library to population-environment literature.

 

PopEnvironment Linkages

PopPlanet.org is part of the National Library of the Environment (NLE) and managed by the National Council for Science and the Environment. It features PopEnvironment Linkages, which includes abstracts and links to more than 14,000 books, reports, articles, organizations, and other materials in the population and environment arenas.
