About PHSAD

PHSAD is a student organization committed to creating and fostering a sense of community and collective responsibility primarily among African American students in the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan. PHSAD also provides a familial environment for students as they pursue their degrees at the School of Public Health.

The organization strives to maintain diversity by having members with backgrounds in each of the academic disciplines as well as other schools within the University. Through work with other organizations, PHSAD has also helped foster relationships among peers that will last a lifetime.

We Strive....
To create an atmosphere wherein academic and professional excellence can coincide with minority interestss
To disseminate and exchange information regarding minority concerns in the field of Public Health
To serve as a network and support system for educational and professional purposes and to provide a platform for expression for minority concerns and issues
To take necessary steps to eradicate discrimination in the School of Public Health as it appears based on race, gender and/or ethnicity
To raise the level of African American student recruitment, admission and retention in the School of Public Health
