Community-Based Public Health
The CBPH program provides opportunities for students and faculty to become engaged with community-academic partnerships through community service learning, volunteer opportunities, internships, and funding for academic course development.
International Practice Programs
The Practice Office provides opportunities for students and faculty to engage in research and practice activities through the China Scholar Exchange Program.
Michigan Center for Public Health Preparedness
MI-CPHP is part of a national network of academic centers established to support the preparedness efforts of state and local health departments. This Center provides competency based training and supports the continued development of Michigan's public health workforce and infrastructure.
Michigan Public Health Training Center
Provides continuing education to those who promote and protect the health and quality of life in our communities. MPHTC offers face-to-face and online instruction to students drawn from state and local health departments, community-based organizations, health delivery systems, and health plans, as well as those studying public health.
Practice Plunge
The Practice Plunge is an opportunity for incoming SPH students to visit public health agencies and organizations during orientation week.
Practice Summit
The Practice Summit is an annual event that draws public health leaders in health departments throughout the state to SPH to network with faculty and students to discuss potential collaborations.
Preventive Medicine Residency
The University of Michigan School of Public Health houses one of the oldest Preventive Medicine Residency programs in the country, dating back to 1969. This program trains highly-qualified physicians for careers in public health, clinical preventive medicine, medical epidemiology and health administration.
Public Health Action Support Team
PHAST is a student-driven group with a faculty advisor whose mission is to make public health practice opportunities more accessible to students. The main objective is to actively assist local and state health departments in meeting the demands of certain public health events, disasters and investigations.
Public Health Consortium for Continuing Medical Education
The Public Health Consortium for Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Michigan State Medical Society to sponsor or joint-sponsor (with non-accredited agencies) CME activities for Category I credit.
Public Health Practice Internships
The Office of Public Health Practice sponsors a limited number of competitive, paid summer internships located in community-based organizations, local health departments and the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Public Health Practice Scholarship Program
The Office of Public Health Practice sponsors a scholarship program which provides competitively-awarded funding for public health practitioners in Michigan to engage in lifelong learning activities related to public health practice.
