The Office of Public Health Practice sponsors a scholarship program which provides funding for public health practitioners to engage in lifelong learning activities related to public health practice. Each scholarship opportunity will be awarded competitively and will have a separate application procedure.
As part of the Public Health Practice Scholarship Program, public health practitioners in Michigan may apply for funding to enroll in selected courses offered through the Graduate Summer Session in Epidemiology (GSS) held each July at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Practice Scholars receive full or partial scholarships for application fees and tuition costs for non-credit courses.
Practice Scholarships are supported by funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
The Office of Public Health Practice provides $135.00 scholarships to members of Michigan community-based organizations who wish to participate in MPHTC courses. For a limited time, scholarships will be available to other types of organizations in Michigan—one scholarship will be offered per course per organization. Scholarships are awarded based on availability and need. Support is granted only when other sources of funding are unavailable to an organization.
To apply for a scholarship, click here Scholarship Application for form. Submit the completed form with your registration material.
If you have been given a scholarship to attend a course, and decide you are unable to attend, you may transfer your scholarship to another member of your organization. The person who will be replacing you in the course must be named at the same time you cancel your registration, otherwise, the Office of Public Health Practice cannot guarantee that your organization's scholarship will be reserved.
Remember that unless you work in a community based organization, only one scholarship per course, per organization is available. If you have any questions about the scholarship policy, please contact mphtc@umich.edu.
