the Greater Flint Health Coalition; the local health department;
Genesys Health System; the University of Michigan School of
Public Health and University of Michigan -Flint. Each partner
brings a unique area of expertise to PRC/MI Community Board.

Description: Created during the 1960's as a response
to the war on poverty, GCCARD provides a multitude of quality
programs. Through these programs GCCARD assists the elderly,

Description: YOUR Center is a faith-based social service
agency of Metropolitan Housing Development Corporation. YOUR
Center assists, services and advocates for the needs of Flint
and Genesee County to improve the their overall quality of
life. The center provides barrier free client centered services
that help reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases
to include HIV and other health disparities.

Description: The GFHC, formed in 1992, has the mission
of improving the health status of Genesee County residents
and improving the quality and cost effectiveness of the health
care system of the county. The Coalition is a community/institutional
partnership with a board broadly reflective of the community's
leadership in government, hospitals, labor, business, insurers,
physicians, education, community and faith-based organizations.
All of the Genesee County/Flint area major health care providers,
insurers, purchasers, employers and labor organizations are
represented in the Coalition, and its Board consists of major
Flint area stakeholders in the health system.

Description: The Genesee County Medical Society is
a medical society association representing almost 700 physicians.
GCMS gives physicians the information and tools needed to
stay current, anticipate developments and make decisions as
they relate to the medical community. The Society works closely
with other medical societies in the state, as well as the
Michigan State Medical Society. We are politically aggressive
making sure member voices are heard regarding local, state,
and national medical issues. The Society is an active member
organization of the Greater Flint Health Coalition, along
with GM, the UAW, third party payers and other key organizations.

Description: With a vision of "Better Life Through
Better Health," and a mission to protect and promote
the community's mental health, the Genesee County Health Department
is recognized for its community-based public health model,
and its efforts to ground local, state and national projects
with local assets and energy. The Department maintains strong,
trusting relationships with its academic and community partners
to succeed in its four strategic plan health outcome objectives,
reduction of: communicable disease, chronic disease, injury,
and racial disparity in infant mortality. Established in 1929,
the Department assesses health processes and health outcomes,
recommends policies to its governing board and others for
adoption, and performs its assurance role through its own
internal resources as well as through its collaboration with
other individuals and organizations. Over 40 service programs
are directly administered in the areas of clinical and community
services, substance abuse, and environmental health.

Description: University of Michigan-Flint (UM-Flint):
The Flint Campus of the University of Michigan is represented
in the PRC Community Board by its School of Health Professions
and Studies. This school offers programs leading to Bachelor
of Science in Health Care Administration, Environmental Health,
Health Education, Health Care-Health and Human Behavior, Administration
of Services to the Aged, Radiation Therapy, Medical Technology,
and Nursing; Master of Science in Anesthesia, Health Education,
Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and RN/MSN; and Doctor of Physical
Therapy. As a PRC Community Board member, the UM-Flint campus
has made public health training more accessible to Flint residents
through the development and dissemination in community settings
of the Health Careers Database, its M.S. in Health Education
degree program, and leadership in the training program, "Developing
Leadership to Promote Community Health Solutions." UM-Flint
also plays an integral role in the REACH 2010 initiative and
has developed a widely recognized course "Cultural Competence
in Health Care."

Description: The mission at the University of Michigan
School of Public Health is to create and disseminate knowledge
