Researcher Engagement

Researcher Engagement Workshops will prepare researchers to work with community organizations to conduct collaborative projects. Researchers will learn about the benefits and challenges of partnering with communities, the principles of community-based research, and how to communicate scientific concepts to diverse audiences. Researchers will learn about the community context through a tour and discussion led by local leaders. Community organizations and researchers will discuss possible research projects of mutual interest.

Day 1

An interactive discussion of Community Based Participatory Research. Topics covered:
  • Overview and Purpose of PIR
  • Times They are A'Changing Research Climate and Community Engagement
  • Models for Community Involvement & CBPR
  • Principles of CBPR
  • Resources for Conducting CBP

Day 2: Travel to Flint (Transportation provided)

8:00 -9:00 Travel to Flint, MI
9:00 -9:30 Visit to FOHI-HAC - Community history and context
9:30 -11:00 Windshield Tour
11:00 -1:00 Meet with community Partners, Lunch provided.
1:00 - 2:00 Travel back to Ann Arbor
